What it means in practice
If you pay 30 euros a month for ChatGPT Team for one employee, ROI measures what you get for it. If that employee saves 10 hours a month thanks to AI (worth 200 euros, say), the investment has paid back many times over. If they never use the tool, the ROI is negative.
Why companies need to know this
- No more wasted money. You do not buy AI because it is fashionable, you buy it because it earns or saves money.
- Measurability. It lets owners decide rationally whether to deploy more expensive and complex AI setups.
- Better margins. Saved time means the same team serves more clients without hiring anyone.
An example from practice
An online shop owner invested 2,000 euros in building an AI chatbot for customer support. The chatbot handled 40 percent of routine questions, saving about half a full-time role. The investment paid back in under four months. In our company AI workshops we teach how to work out in advance which AI tools are worth investing in.
